The gmp Foundation

The Hamburg-based gmp-Stiftung (gmp Foundation) was set up by architectural firm Gerkan, Marg und Partner (gmp) in 2007 for the purpose of supporting and training students and graduates, and promoting research into architecture, landscaping and landscape conservation both within Germany and abroad.

These aims will be mainly furthered by subventions from the foundation channelled through the Academy for Architectural Culture (aac) in Hamburg.

Along with courses for high-flying students and graduates in the field of architecture, the aac will be organising a broadly diversified programme of public lectures, discussions and symposia on cultural and academic subjects to strengthen and highlight the links between architecture and other fields of culture and the arts in a direct and lively way.

The gmp Foundation will thus be a player not only in education but also in cultural affairs as well. It will not only be contributing to the promotion of architecture but also supporting the intellectual and cultural life of Hamburg itself.
