Athens Central Station

aac Autumn Workshop 2026

02 September to 25 September 2026 at the Rainvilleterrasse Campus in Hamburg

Application Deadline: 10 June 2026
Details regarding the application and the documents to be submitted.

Workshop Topic
The aac Autumn Workshop will focus on the development of Athens Central Station.

The aim is to integrate the entire site, including the two existing station buildings, into the urban landscape in a way that makes the most of its location and potential.  The development of new activities within the existing, preservation-worthy buildings, combined with the creation of new, complementary infrastructure, is intended to form a new, sustainable hub that connects previously separate neighbourhoods and can contribute to the regeneration of this area of Athens.

Excursion
The workshop begins with a field trip to Athens, Greece.

Workshop Format
The designs will be conceptualised and developed in international groups. In addition to tutorials and interim presentations, the workshop will be accompanied by a public lecture programme.

Following the workshop, the results will be shown in the form of an exhibition on the premises of the aac in Hamburg.

Chairmanship
The workshop is under the guidance of Magdalene Weiß, Executive Partner at gmp Architects, and Jan Stolte, Partner at gmp Architects.
